Another donation towards our Charter Project "Every Life Deserves".
During our last meeting at the Pullman Hotel, on Wednesday 03 March 2021, we were very happy to donate an additional 50,000 THB towards the Ban Meata Children’s Home in Khon Kaen. On the picture above you can see the Chairman of the ELD Project Werner Meyer (5th from the left) and the secretary of our Club Becky Rabel (4th from the right), presenting the cheque to some of the staff members of House of Mercy Foundation (in the middle)
We want to acknowledge the generosity of Rotarian Bernhard Marti, from RC Bern Rosengarten, together with all the people who supported our Fundraising activities for the project, who enabled us to donate the 50,000 THB.
We as our Rotary Club are committed to an ongoing partnership with House of Mercy Foundation helping to support the essential daily costs for raising the new generation of children in their care. When we started our Charter Project Every Life Deserves, we committed and donated 1 million THB over a period of 5 years. At the start of the new Rotary Year 2019-2020, we decided to sustain our support towards Ban Meata, beyond out initial commitment of 5 years, with a target of a minimum of 100,000THB per year.

Six new children joined Ban Meata within two weeks at the end of January 2021. They aged between 2 weeks and 4 years old.
On the picture on the right you can see the youngest baby who joined the Ban Meata family.
It was an unprecedented number of children and has put an increased pressure on resources and the need to employ new staff. The children all required medical checks varying between HIV testing, malnourishment, vaccinations, lung and breathing screening and mental and physical development assessments. They have already showed progress in the short time they have been in the home.
